The shamán is the person who exercises or practices the rituals of shamanism.
In shamanism, the shaman is given the ability to modify reality or the collective perception of it according to their religion and respond to a kind of causal logic. This can finally be expressed, for example, in the ability to heal, to communicate with spirits and ancestors, and to present divinatory abilities.
It is the term used to indicate this type of person, present mainly in the hunting and gathering societies of Africa, America, Asia and Oceania and also in prehistoric cultures of Europe. In some cultures it is also believed that the shaman can indicate where the game is located and even alter climatic factors.
The term comes from the noun in Tungusic (Siberian) languages shamán ('he who knows'), and this from the verb shahia ('to know'). Interesting myths.
